I once heard
"The tragedy of your life, is not your death. It's what dies inside you while your still alive."

What has died inside me is the belief that I can get what I want in life.

The only two things that I know for sure are:
  • I want to love and be loved by a woman again

  • I want to start some money-making venture.
Because I just hate the thought of my income of being subject to the arbitrary and capricious whims of just one person (boss)

When I think of what is lacking in my life, these are the ONLY things that come to mind.
But it's ALWAYS these two Holy Grails

Can anybody tell me how I can revive the belief that I CAN actually have what I want in my life?
I think that if I actually believed, that I would start trying again.

I watched a TED talk on here last night. I think it was in a sticky or something and didn't allow replies, but http://www.ted.com/talks/brene_brown_on_vulnerability.html

It basically talked about how people who embrace vulnerability end up being stronger and also having a feeling of deservedness.

I have very similar goals as you too. They're broad, but I want that too. Anyway watch that talk at least.

Hmmm... well with your current attitude, you are right it is impossible. So first thing you need is a change of attitude.

Last September when I was drinking with people I knew in college we had a deep discussion about... well life.... while I cannot remember the exact story... here is the story of the man who made... I think it was like $25,000 for 30 minutes of consultant work.

A CEO's business was struggling. So he hired a consultant to come in and see what he could do to fix things. After hearing the situation the consultant said. "Write down 5 things you want to accomplish. Then everyday do everything you can to accomplish those 5 things." Then the consultant left. So the CEO took his advice. effectively this turned the business around. So the CEO wanted to thank the guy. So he sent him a check for $25,000.

I can vouch for the idea working. I want to lose weight. When I put my mind to and focus I lose weight. However, when I get lazy and look for excuses I gain it back. I am working on losing weight again. Because I want to no longer have a gut.

You have two things you want, listed on this thread. Tell me what have you done today to accomplish those things? If you say nothing, let me help you out.

For the being loved by a female. Love is something that grows over time. First you have to meet the female and spend time with her. So, how many different females did you talk to today? If you say zero, then tomorrow I want you to talk to at least 3. A simple greeting, such as smiling and saying hello will suffice. Start small, then after a couple of weeks of doing just that, to more and more women. Try and hold a conversation with at least one female. Maybe once you get home, why not look up books on dating and picking up women? Torrents are a wonderful thing you know.

For your second of having your own business. Have you come up with an idea of what you want to do? If not start brainstorming ideas. Once you have the idea, write out a business plan. Next work on your presentation of said plan. Finally go to the bank and pitch the idea. Then dedicate yourself to the business.

Now think of 3 more things you want to accomplish. Then start working to accomplishing them. It is really that simple.

If you're not dead-set in some sort of idea for your business venture already, try and have a look-see about what sort of businesses are in your area already. What venue of business is not reprisented much, or has no standing in your community already? You could find a good market niche this way, by providing services that are not catered to by your local market. Then again, be certain that there are not any prominent competitors in, say, a bus' ride's away from your location, because folks are still likely to go that distance if they have frequented the establishments before, and gotten good service and most importantly, the right product for the right price.

See if your goverment has any sort of support packages for new enterprises starting out. Monetary support and the like. Those can help you get started faster, and possibly without having to take on a loan from the bank to finance your business.

As for the mystery of love, I haven't the foggiest, sorry.

A new life you will find those two things.. i know how you feel and I have felt similiar.

One of my goals is complete.. now I have to work at the rest.

That video was assume though.
