I sent someone a message saying their profile is inspiring. I'm just wondering if I used the right word.

The reason why I had said that is because this person's profile (what she had said) sounded a lot like me.

But inspiring to me means someone who motivates me to do something creative.

Look "inspiring" up in the dictionary. Google it.

A better way to say it might have been exactly what you wrote. That you both have similar interests.
