an associate in life, nothing more nothing less

although depending on the 2 people who are friends determines how much trust they put into there association

A friend is someone who gets in contact themselves and doesn't need to be chased up all the time.
A friend is someone you feel comfortable sharing what's going on in your life -all the time! bad and good.

A friend is someone who feels responsible to responds to what you tell them.
A friend is someone you can trust.
A friend is someone who trusts you.

Very nice topic to debut. My view A friend is someone you can depend on. Someone who you can talk to. A friend could be anything like a person, dog or cat. Whatever a friend is it doesn't matter as long as it's your friend. Many people don't know that. A friend is a friend and that's all that matters.

Right you are! My reply was only refering to human friends.
But indeed I lost one of my best ever friends on June 12 -my beloved cat.
It still feels like a dark hole inside my heart and absolutely nothing can fill it...
