OK some of you are going to say.."no one presses my buttons, I'm too cool for that"

I'm not too proud to admit that my buttons are very easily pushed.
So by admitting my triggers, will people here try me out? :) I don't care. Go ahead.

Some of mine are:

-getting lectured by someone as if I'm an imbecile
-nasty teasing...spoken to rudely, dismissed as an idiot, finding out someone backstabbed me.."isthatso is a weirdo, got no social skills"
-someone trying to humiliate me

Actually those examples sound pretty tame. I can come up with better ones later....

1. Insinuations. I never know how to react.
2. People being mean to other people in the service industry.
3. Rude drivers
4. That guy who sits behind you in the cinema and keeps kicking your seat (I am going to kill him the next time I see him) :D

1. Being told how to live my life.
2. Someone being rude/hurtful to someone else.
3. Flying off the handle over stupid stuff. Like, I didn't reply fast enough or small misunderstandings.

People not listening...

In my line of work (IT support) I will constantly encounter people who just do not listen. They will then go on to do something theyre not supposed to, break something or otherwise "tinker", and then blame us when it causes problems.

Impoliteness...

I have no delusions of grandeur, and I do not expect anyone to go out of their way for me, but if I hold open a door for someone, I do expect a quick "thank you". People barging past without saying "excuse me" and people not saying please or thankyou does drive me mad sometimes.

People talking down to me / suggesting they are more important...

This is again another work related one. As IT support, I apparently cannot comprehend at all how important some people are, and how vital their role, their work and their very being is... "Don't you KNOW who I AM?!"... I must drop everything and prioritize them as the number one issue.... because despite their apparent superiority in every area - it doesn't include hand-eye co-ordination and they have spilled a skinny latte on their brand new laptop.

If someone provides a service, it is a job, and that job is not to take abuse.

Just thought of an example.
The other day i went to a liquor store and bought a bottle of wine.
Wasn't dressed well, perhaps not very friendly to shop assistant but not rude anyway...
She didn't give me a paper bag so I asked for one. Then I had to pack it myself.
Sounds ridiculous I know, but I usually get much better service there.
It really played on my mind afterwards probably because I didn't say anything at the time to her.
Hilaroius how we can make mountains out of molehills though. :)

Feel for you there. Work related stress. I'm with you on manners and hate arrogance too. Insensitivity is common. Power games in the office! Politics yuk!

Being overlooked and ignored.
Being patronised.
Not being taken seriously.

My point of view being dismissed by someone of lower IQ.
My point of view being dismissed by someone with a higher IQ but with only left brain logical thinking.
My point of view being dismissed by a moron.
Someone using tentative phrasing at the start to hide their contempt for my opinion.

I'm one of those people that pick up on things most other people do not, It's something I can't help doing, and it depends on what mood I'm in about how much it bothers me.

At current things aren't going to great so I think it's fair to say that MOST things really press my buttons, haha

Clarification: MOST things that I pick up on...

being told I look miserable
being told to 'cheer up'
asked why I don't drink
getting told to 'live a life'
getting asked 'why I havent I got a girlfriend'
taking **** from management at work.
lazy people at work doing sod all !

Being told how and what I should think and feel.
People who have made assumptions about me without bothering to find out the facts. Doubly so for when they got angry at me when they found out their assumptions were wrong ...
Being ignored. Not just physically ignored, but being mentally and emotionally ignored too.
People who play emotional games.
People who think that lying and hurting others is something to be proud of.
Being lectured that the only love I should need in life is the love of 'god'. I respect people who believe in something spiritual, but I wish they would show the same respect that I do not.
The same tepid, crusty, tried to death advice and platitudes.

"Why should I have to be forward about my feelings when I can pull other people's strings to try to get what I want/need? They don't have feelings of their own, after all - at least not any that matter."

"Every discussion or disagreement is a horrible fight and you're all poo-poo heads for having opinions and comparing them! Stop talking about things!"

"This person forgot to respond to a text? I knew it! They're horrible like everyone else! Sooner or later, everyone reveals the darkness inside!"

"The problem isn't with me! That collection of machines passing data around the world that's limited to what people put in it with no will whatsoever is what's evil and ruining my life! Same for TV, alcohol, food, and every other vice. Oh, the humanity of living in a society so plagued by evils!"

Being manipulated.

I was going to say being lied to, but everyone needs to lie from time to time, even if it appears malicious from another persons point of view.
