When a username has a line through it, does that mean they are banned?

I ask this question because I have been sent a P.M. from a 'anej221' (line through the name) saying he/she (presumably she) wants to get to know me, and if I'm going to befriend her and she is banned from the site I want to know why.

Can any of the moderators enlighten me?

Yes that does mean that he was banned. In fact both of the accounts that he was PM spamming the forum with have been banned. He didn't want your friendship, he wanted your money. Quite a number of the users here got the identical PM. It was a mass mailing.

That makes me feel very saddened.

if that makes you sad, just wait until a Nigerian Princess steals your heart and gets your bank account numbers! then you will be really REALLY sad! :D

OMG!!!! I KNEW IT!

I got the same email and was thinking about starting a thread to ask about it, her wording did seem very curious to me

aww i cna't be;ieve these money grubbing pricks would start trying to scam the lonely and down trodden that is just plain wrong!

how did you guys know they were wanting money

like how into the messages do they say, hey, umm i need some momey

also just want to say a kudos for the moderators for catching them early on before something bad hhappened

Well, as I said on another thread that was raised about this individual;

Be very wary of unsolicited pms which;

a) Are of a generic nature (do not seem to show any knowledge of you, aside from "checking a profile and liking what they saw" or similar)
b) Are from someone with few or no posts on the forum
c) Immediately wishes to enter into email contact with you, or for you to join some third party site.

I know, but a couple of posts/pms to mods have shown that some people have never experienced this kind of con before.
