I am not letting this forum go without the election thread, guys, sorry.
I care way too much about you and your opinions and this is a way too friendly forum to see this opportunity wasted and I know it won't turn into another bloodshed, right?
As we all know, what is likely to turn into the most historic election day in the history of our world is one month away to the day. Even though just two weeks ago it seemed like it is going be another count-every-vote situation, the latest polls show that Barack Obama is an Ohio away from becoming the first African American President in the history of the United States.
Judging by the same polls, Democratic nominees have won both debates so far and political experts say John McCain better think of something new very soon if he wants to swing the undecideds to his side before it's too late. If he doesn't, the historic election day may likely turn out to be a pretty boring one as well.
As of the polls conducted last Monday, Barack Obama has 250 electoral votes -- 160 of which are safe -- and needs a maximum of four toss up states to win the election (or just one if it brings at least 20 electoral votes like Ohio), whereas John McCain, the way states are divided between colors at the moment, needs at least 7 out of 8 of those same toss up states - one of which being Wisconsin which hasn't been won by a Republican presidential nominee in the last 24 years (even Michael Dukakis beat George H. W. Bush in 1988 in Wisconsin).
As of last Wednesday, John McCain headquarters - aware that the state is slipping away - decided to drop out of the Michigan race and use the newly gained financial resources to put their focus on the remaining toss ups with the emphasis on the two with the biggest electorat gain - Ohio and, guess what, Florida.
So, let's hear it from you Americans on this forum (old enough to vote and underage). We all know that if it were up to the rest of the world, it would be a landslide for ... well, I guess we all know who. But you are the ones whose opinions will count on November 4th.
In one month exactly, which ticket will get your vote - Obama/Biden or McCain/Palin?
Please cast your vote in the poll and if you don't have a problem stating your decision publicly, please explain why in the thread. The poll is private and others can't see who you voted for.
Thanks in advance.
