Why is it that when I'm not sarcastic or laughing , everyone assumes I'm angry?

I hate this; It happens constantly.

Usually I am very sarcastic or smiling (when really I'm sort of forcing it), but when I'm not, everyone automatically assumes I have an attitude because I'm being serious.

Especially my sister. She always gets angry with me because she assumes I'm angry, and when I tell her nothing is wrong, I'm not angry, she gets even more irritable.

Like today, she left her computer on the couch. My mom's boyfriend was saying how he was going to take the baby and sit on the couch. She mumbled, "No let me get my computer!"

I told her, "Go get it then. He's still in the kitchen"

Then she got angry with me, saying I have an attitude. Like, wtf? I only told her to go move her computer. Just because I'm not smiling doesn't mean I'm angry. Smiling a lot hurts my face. And being sarcastic all the time is a bit tiring as well, but I'm tired of this quick assumption of me being angry just because I'm not smiling, or because it looks like I have a frown on my face. Last time I checked, everyone looks neutral
when they aren't laughing.

I'm not sure why you felt the need to tell her to go and get it. It probably annoyed her. Even if technically it's not a very annoying thing to say, it can be annoying if you're living under the same roof. It's what siblings do - annoy each other. Any kind of instruction or criticism, or (no offense) unhelpful advice from someone you're around a lot of the time, can be lashed out at. You wont have to deal with this forever.

Haha.Same here.Do I really have to walk around like a f-king clown? I used to joke around all the time.It was some sort of coping mechanism.Guess people got too used to it that whenever I look "neutral" they assume something terrible happened and I keep getting showered with questions. "Why are you so angry?" "What's up with the attitude?" "Did something happen?" - no, nothing happened.I just got tired of smiling all the time.
