(Sorry if there's some old thread out there on this topic, I couldn't really find one to bump)

Anyways, I used to be quite religious. I thought I knew exactly why I was here and what I have to do.
Not a huge fan of religion, but perhaps in the future I may consider trying that again.

Now i'm rather lost and depressed. I don't really know what my purpose is or why i'm here.

Right now i'm thinking i'm here cause of luck and my purpose is to make cute babies :D so the human race can continue.

Anyways , that's just what I think. I'm curious to hear your oppinions :).
What do YOU think?

You know from stuff I've read before I believe it's necessary to either have a religion or a set of beliefs in order to have a balanced and happy life. It's just something I read up on previously though so there's no need to take what I said to heart.

I believed my sole purpose in life was to literally take over the world in any particular facet.

Things have changed though and I don't think I serve any purpose in life, I'd like to pull a selfless act of heroism one day though and become martyred to show that it's okay to be human and to care for strangers.

Right on.

That's been my plan for a while. If that moment ever comes.

I believe in God, though I have difficulty going to church. It bores me quite frankly because they don't give me what I want, which is to learn about different ways to read the bible, and differen theological approaches. Instead I am forced to sit there and listen to the pastor attempt to brain-wash me with his little sermons. He's taking things out of context and also assumes that people know the bible, which, if he is really trying to convert people, he would focus on more...

But enough of my gripes about how the church presents the scripture. :p

My purpose in life has become one of reaching goals I set for myself. It makes me feel good about myself to achieve goals. :)

Start small and work your way up.

I think my sole purpose in life is to watch, listen, learn, express myself creatively, like, love and respect as many other souls as I can, to learn to live and find my way around the ostacles and to try to always keep a hand free so I can grab hold of someone elses and tug them along when needed. I know I'll never save the world or be the bestest or mostest of anything, but I'm pretty content just hanging in the middle somewhere, chit-chatting with someone anyway....

On days like today, I am convinced that I am here to serve as a cautionary tale for others:

People, Don't Be Like HER! Make the right choices in your life. It may be too late for her, but it's not too late for you! Act now.

****.

I really dont see it as being true. As far as I can see, you're a wonderful person and I think you've made great choices in your life. :)

STOP LETTING YOUR BRAIN LIE TO YOU!!! You have a good head on your shoulders, a sound sense of logic....

The only thing I would change is the part of you that doesn't realize how great you are. :)

ctf--It's nowhere near too late for you. You have the best years ahead of you. We've all made ****** choices but we get past them, you've probably already jumped some sharks in life and you'll jump this one too. You're strong, smart and able to accoplish whatever you set out to do. Move to my town and we'll plot a huge take-over while making something delicious and drinking something worthy of a good glass...

I"m sorry if this is rude, ,but I laughed when I read this.

It's ok. It was meant to be most-of-the-way funny. All I can do is try to laugh about my situation. The minute I find that I can't find something slightly humorous, even it if is dark humor, then I know I am in trouble.

Yeah, good luck with that. She's had some 40 years to practice.

If we're talking jumping sharks here, then it has never seemed to be such a wide stretch of water before me... with so many sharks. It feels hopeless at times. I mean, I am not giving up. I am still trying to move forward, but some days the outlook is bleaker than on others.

I really wish I could move back to New England, but with the custody the way it is, I am stuck here.

Also, some of the bad choices are only bad in retrospect. Marrying my husband seemed like a good idea at the time. So did staying home to raise the kids.

Now it seems as though they were bad choices, at least as far as it bodes for my current financial and career outlook.

But at the time, who knew?
