What are you thinking right now?

I remember reading that post, and it didn't really make me feel one thing or another.

I was not on his list of shout-outs, but I wasn't offended. It didn't bother me.

I think it's OK for the people that are religious to be religious, but at the same time, they should keep in mind that there are a lot of people here, or on other sites, that don't share those views, because they think life is a cosmic accident (that they lost), or they think there is a higher being, but feel cursed by them, resulting in their misfortune.

A lot of people are down on their luck here, and are (in my opinion, understandably) not in a very grateful mood.
Hence, their criticism of religion.
With me, I don't like the way religion has been used over the years as a justification by those in power, of NOT improving conditions on Earth - "oh don't worry that me and my friends have all the money and luxury, you'll get yours in Heaven!" I've always thought that was a little too convenient for me.

I also don't like how religion is used to invalidate people that have problems.
I've seen it in different places around the net, where someone will say that they're struggling with someone, usually attraction (which greatly affects your quality of life) and someone will essentially tell them to stop worrying about it, and turn to religion instead.

Not being able to attract a partner is a very valid, human issue.
Just trying to cover it up - with religion, alcohol, a career, TV/movies/video games, even exercise - doesn't work, and shouldn't be used to essentially tell someone to stop complaining, as if those can fill the emptiness instead. They don't.

Personally I wish I could take comfort in believing in some kind of afterlife to look forward to, but it's something I really struggle with.
I was born a sinner. My sin is mentioned in the Bible 25 times. I tried to change, but couldn't... Luckily society learned to accept us left-handed people.

@Sixx 2.0 Fine. I'm wrong, you're right. Hope that makes your day.
That’s not exactly what I was aiming for. I’m not looking for you to just say I’m right, I’m looking for a proper discussion. It’s not about winning or being right, it’s about having a bit of respect for each other’s views and actually addressing things rather than dismissing them with a sarcastic remark. If you’re not interested in that, fair enough.

Please, don't try to act all righteous now. I've said it already, you ruined the ethos of a thread when you could've stated your feelings in other threads, like in this one for example. Of course I'm just going to dismiss you when you won't even acknowledge your faux pas, and from your first post on your return you state that "most of you are ******s", so how am I supposed to take you? And in the same post you wrote "has this place finally grown some teeth?" but when I bared my teeth about your post, you get your back up.

Since this is the "What are you thinking right now?" thread, I'm going to finish with this waste of time back-and-forth with that - I think this is a waste of time back-and-forth.

Right, let’s get this straight. From the off, you’ve been the one throwing the jabs, not me. Calling my viewpoint "narrow-minded," telling me I "failed to see" SirJoseph’s post, that’s all a bit much, innit? You’ve had a pop at me for "ruining the ethos of the thread," but all I was doing was offering a different take. Fair enough, we don’t see eye to eye, but you’ve been the one lobbing insults, not the other way around.

And about you saying "nobody else had an issue" with SirJoseph’s post, nah mate, that’s not what I’ve been hearing. Plenty of people felt the same way I did, but either they didn’t want to get involved or couldn’t be bothered to speak up. I’d bring it up in a thread, but we both know the site admins would probably just lock it or delete it, wouldn’t they? So, don’t go assuming things when you don’t have all the info.

As for the "******s" comment, what exactly do you think was censored there? Given how heavy-handed the site’s censorship is, If you took it the wrong way, I’m sorry, but it wasn’t meant to be taken like that. And the "has this place finally grown some teeth?" line? It wasn’t a dig at you, it was just me wondering if things were going to get a bit more lively around here. I didn’t expect you to get all bent out of shape about it, but you did. And when I responded, you decided to start acting like I was in the wrong, even though you were the one throwing the first punches.

Now, about this "trying to act all righteous" nonsense, nah mate, I’m not trying to pull some moral high ground here. All I’ve done is respond to your attacks, yet you’re turning it around as if I’m somehow being holier-than-thou. If anything, it’s you who’s been acting like you’re above it all, and now you’re pointing fingers. I’ve never claimed to be in the right here, but don’t act like you’re the only one with a valid point.

And now, with your "I’m right, you’re wrong" routine, that’s not what I’m here for. I’ve never claimed to be right, but don’t make it sound like I’m the only one in the wrong. You’ve been dishing out the insults from the start, yet now you want to act like I’m the one stirring the pot. Nah mate, I’ve been trying to have a proper conversation, but you’ve made it personal.

And now you want to wrap it up with this "waste of time back-and-forth" nonsense? Don’t try to act all high and mighty like you’ve got better things to do when you’ve been right in the thick of it. You’ve been itching for a row from the start, and now that you’ve got one, you’re acting like you’re above it. It’s clear you’re the one who’s been up for the scrap, not me.

It’s obvious you just want to throw a few punches don’t pretend I’m the one who turned this into a playground squabble.

Maybe it's a good time for the background posse to grow up.

..... You’ve had a pop at me for "ruining the ethos of the thread," but all I was doing was offering a different take. ........
You REFUSE to acknowledge that you simply wanted to attack someone else in an thread designed to uplift people, and won't apologise for doing so. I can't in all good conscience give any credence to your further ramblings.

Knock it off all of you, just stop. This is not what this thread is for. Take your issues to PM's if you want to continue bickering but as of now this stops.

Ah! yet another twist. Pot kettle black?.

If my post wasn't deleted it would be clear that there was no attack by me, I can't be held responsible for your lack of comprehension skills unfortunately.

It's one thing when you were always enemies with someone.
But it's especially a shame when people that once got along, fall out and turn on one another.
I've seen it happen a few times now, and it's always just sad all around.

I guess I knew the whole "getting so old that you despise today's music" was inevitable, but to literally see language change in a way I don't even understand what they're saying anymore - that's trippy.

I've felt this way for a while.
I generally don't like listening to music made by people younger than me, because it makes me feel like life has passed me by.
But it's not just that...a lot of today's music is just unrelatable to me. It's not something I feel like I can connect with.

That's OK, I still have the old stuff. I will always have the '90s. But yeah, it is a little unsettling how today's musical landscape is pretty much unrecognizable.

^ I'm not partial to the popular music of today either; fortunately, there is sooo much music out there these days: probably 1,000 life times couldn't come close to being able to appreciate all of it. Bandcamp, soundcloud, etc.. etc.. Or to make your own music.

I try to keep a "To Listen" list, just like I keep a "To Read" and "To Watch" list.

I have to try to keep it more in order.

But, like you said - making your own. Making your own, that's as good as the stuff you like. That would be ideal.
