Can you discuss why this gentleman is a "fine man?"

Sorry, that word (nor any derivative thereof) isnt allowed here, Mind.

What? You WANT to offend people here? I'd certainly hope not. o_O
It's a forum, expect your posts to be "moderated."

"In the name of the greatest people that have ever trod this earth, I draw the line in the dust and toss the gauntlet before the feet of tyranny, and I say segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever."

I trust that is more socially acceptable?

There is much to learn from Mr. Wallace

Besides....why would anyone want to even talk about someone who is widely known as a racist?

Unless you're being facetious, and making some sort of joke in poor taste, then I might assume you're trying to fan racial tension here. The only thing I see to "learn" from one such as he, is how NOT to act.

Except that, as I recall, he later recanted those segregationist views and asked people to forgive him for his actions in the door of that Alabama schoolhouse and his attempts to inflame racial hatred in the south.

Im really not sure what the intent behind this thread is, but I don't think it's going to end well at all. Unless of course, the intent is to show that people with such absurd opinions can change and see the light? o_O

Didn't he have a major change in position towards the end of his career apologizing for the way he had been and bringing a lot more blacks into the state government?

As far as the original posters intent, that is questionable.

Uh yeah, what cheaptrickfan said. Okay i type slow. :)

Yes, in the mid 80s or so.

I'm sure that he'd rather his legacy be one of forgiveness and redemption than hatred and bigotry.

But yeah, I can't speak for the OP's intent.

I never said that guy was a "fine man" I was asking why he thought that guy was a "fine man." *just to clear that up*

Yes you did ask.

I thought it was clear you were just asking. :)

We've discussed the matter and feel this thread isn't something we should leave open.
