Well,

I see numerous threads started on here by people asking how to meet new people, combat social anxiety and so on...

What success stories to people have to share when it comes to this?

I've never seen it mentioned but i would recommend joining a short course studying counselling, usually lasting around 9-12 months.

I did a counselling skills course, although purely for personal study, but met a wide variety of people and as the course went it got rather personal.

We would use real-life situations when doing our practice sessions and the personal development study groups brought a number of people to tears.

It's a hidden gem.

Your success?

You mean like a therapy group session?

The course itself was studying counselling - the three main models, use of session skills, history and personal development.

It more or less turned into a therapy group session when we hit on the personal development part.

The people on the course had a variety of reasons for doing it.

A couple of us were there to learn about counselling. Some used the course to reflect on their own life and share and others just wanted to meet new people.

One person was a recovering alcoholic who wanted to use her experience to help others.

You meet a wide-range of people.

Fair enough.

Let's change it.

There is a fire in your home and you have the chance to save one possession, minus your family and pets.

What would your actions be?
