I'm risking sounding like an idiot here but it wouldn't be the first time. If members say that they don't care about their rep total, then why is the "Negative Rep" function disabled? If nobody truly cared why is it deactivated?

It's disabled to prevent abuse.

I don't bother concerning myself with rep points, although it would be nice to get one every once in a while to make me feel special! Right now, I don't even know how many I have. I am me...period. If I get a point or not, it will be because someone likes something I posted or I helped someone out, and that is strictly up to that person. I can't force someone to give me a point. And, that's the end of this story!
