By the way, this whole gossip theme has got me pondering even more. (oh no!)

It's OK to gossip I think. Just not the vindictive kind.
Gossip is like news. We watch the news on TV because we want to keep up with what's happening in the world.
So at least we are showing interest in other people by indulging in some gossip (friends/family/work). A real narcisstic type may take no interest in other people and not indulge in gossip. In fact may want to be the centre of gossip instead.
"come on..talk about me! Surely I'm the centre of your attention" they might think or say.

yes agree. Those at work complain about all the gossiping, I say what else is there to talk about ? The weather ?

Ouch!

On receiving end of new backstab.
Apparently a work colleague, (who acts like I'm her best friend)
complained that to others I sent her an innappropriate email.

Ouch!
Wish she'd told me first!

All I wrote to her was "I'm running out of friends at work. Can I pay you commission to be my friend?"

Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!
"good chance for loving kindness meditation here. Breathe slowly. Yes that's it. She's only human. We all make mistakes. You've backstabbed before so you can't talk. Breathe deeply. Listen to the breath. Should I confront her? No no no. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. It's nothing. Just your precious reputation. Oh God this is hard. poor me!"

Most people Backstab without even noticing. I bet everyone on here and Backstabbed someone.
