I agree and disagree.

I guess I disagree mostly to justify my own actions from the past. Being a victim of bullying has sort of made me a bully, but it's usually not for just any reason.

If I think someone is full of BS, I usually call them out on it. The things that some people think/say just baffle me, and sometimes when talking it out doesn't do anything. People are more likely to pay attention when you insult them. Kind of like how satires usually catch people's attention because it's offending.

However, I'll keep this thread in mind the next time I feel like being curt with people. :)

We're pretty accepting here.

Sometimes the most helpful thing you can do is laugh at someone.

There was a member here who was recently ridiculed and banned. The first thing they did once the ban was lifted was apologize and admit that their attitude was a crutch.

So what's more helpful. A community that creates a false reality where everything is tolerated? Or a community that's realistic and calls you out on your **** when you offend the people who are trying to help you?

I completely agree. But taking issue with something that someone has said, and humiliating them for saying it are two different things. You have to be careful in a heated debate not to cross the line. Disagreements on this forum shouldn't involve making fun of another person and encouraging others to join in. Now I haven't seen anything like this on ALL since I've been here. But presumably it's that kind of thing which SophiaGrace is talking about.

You shouldn't have said "one member" making a comic about it. It's ME who did it and you can say my name openly cos since you said it anyway. It's in the comic threads for everyone to see. Why the hell do you care sophia? I never asked for your bloody opinion. Come-on, this is pissing me off thats you coming out with this ******* ******** of an argument after 3 months of making a comic. If you didnt like it, you should have told me the time I made it. Its like, you had your lulz of a ******* fun time seeing the comic and now you are against it?

I only intended to show it to Steve and no one else. When Steve said it's a nice one, I just showed it to those members in chat who argued with "the-one" in his thread and that includes you as well. I posted it on this forum only after asking many people ( including mods). You were one of those many people as well. Where the hell does that put you? huh? What the **** are you arguing about me crossing line? You told me to post it as well. what the **** you support it one time and then you go against it? What the bloody **** is your problem?

Oh.. and for the record, I still have screen-shot of you calling "the-one" a scum cos he was arguing about child pornography.

and for the rest of the forum members who missed to see the comic, here is it again. I never even mentioned his name in the comic. If you do a little research on this person, you will know the indirect meaning of it. Those who don't do a research, will never have a clue.

Yeah Sanal. I said I participated in it too. I said that in the Original Post.

I"m really NOT an innocent party here.

I remember laughing at it Zak, encouraging you to post it.

Looking back, i disagree with my reactions.

*headdesk*

guys. unless anyone has specific questions or ideas about constructive ways to solve those issues - i suggest that we stop here, to avoid more flames.

i think everyone agrees that there is an issue here, and that we do not all agree on how to go about it - so... may i suggest that the next replies concentrate more on HOW to solve the problem rather then WHO started/continued/did whatever they did?

i am sure that between us we can come up with better ways of dealing with the problem.

so... sophia, sanal, andrew, BJD and everyone else that took the time to reply/think about this - any suggestions sans pointing fingers on how to deal with this in the future?

I think I'll just PM moderators or flag posts from now on...

I believe I've been a victim of mild bullying on this site myself.

If anyone wants to make a thread that deals with issues that have meaning for them, please do so in the appropriate areas of the forum, such as social issues, feedback, etc.
Insulting specific forum members to make some misguided point is NOT the proper way to go about being heard.

I'm sure that there are plenty of resources one can search that pertain to being bullied on line and how to deal with it. Perhaps the next member that would like to make a thread about the issue would care to do a little research on the subject and post their findings here for others to utilize. I'm sure that such effort would be appreciated.

Bullying is an emotive term, and one completely inappropriate, including by definition, to describe the attacking of peoples' arguments or the defending of those who are abused by such an individual. I fail to see how someone who makes bigoted, inflammatory, or abusive posts and is called up on them is suddenly the victim of "bullying".

I completely disagree with everything Sophia has stated. I feel those members whom she has chosen to target, the kind of members who will not stand by idly while bigoted and insulting posts are made against groups or individuals, should receive praise and not villification.
