Hello.:)

I couldn't remember if I posted this before, but the search came up negative, so here it goes. When it comes to ghosts, I'm a believer in the strongest sense of the word. Here's why: The image below is of an old hospital in my city called "The Old General Hospital" before it was imploded not too long after this picture of it was taken.

Back when I was younger, some friends and I got drunk and made a stupid decision to enter and explore the place as it was basically hollowed out. We reached a floor where down the hall was this room.

Upon further exploration down the hall we saw something that was absolutely horrifying. I was as nervous as a hooker in church. In the room was what appeared to be a nurse writing on a chalkboard.

Man, we hauled ass out of there as fast as we could. I understand if some of you doubt this story, but at the same time, I don't care. I know what I saw. Ever since then, I've come to believe in ghosts with every fiber of my being.

Nope.

In my case I'm an atheist so I think that says it all...

Not really. Plenty of athiests believe in ghosts. They just say that they are the remaining energy sources of people's brain charges, etc etc. Things like that. Instead of calling them "spirits."

The human mind is an amazing thing. People can see what they want to if they try. Most people experience physical illness, drugs, or something in their life that causes them to experience weird things... And that is just it, they are things created by the mind only. We are all prone to mass hysteria.

I am athiest.

I am a atheist that believes in God ............And Jesus, he walked on water.I saw it

No I don't but annoyingly that still didn't stop me getting weirded out when a light in our house kept turning itself on.

Anyway if ghosts existed wouldn't it cover all species? Has anyone ever heard of a someone seeing a cow ghost? No.

That's exactly what I tought while reading LK's experience... (no ofense to him). We really have tricky brains... just think about how ppl were burning each other a few centuries ago. They would believe in werewolfs, vampires, witches... Somehaw ghosts seemed to continue "being hip"...

Nope, I don't doubt people actually see things, but they're mostly hallucinations, sleep paralysis and hypnagogic hallucinations induces effects such as out of body experience and "astral projections" among other weird physical sensations and visions, but most of them aren't really real and just a by product of their subconscious, the more they fear, the more they visualize and see.

Our brains are capable of applying dream-like imagery and overlapping them into our visions, so I don't really trust people all that much about it.

It just doesn't make any sense. If they were real, there would be a lot more incidents.

Ya, I have tried striking a deal and/or goading spooks, demons, and other unreal things to simply move a tiny object and it never works. Never..... So if they are real they are really well hidden and/or chicken. If they existed they would be everywhere.

With all the camera's people have today you would get really good evidence of both picture and sound. I have never run across any good evidence. Only goofy and faked stuff. Only cons or people who want attention can produce such.

You have to believe in mysticism and magic to believe in such stuff. At which point a person will fall for anything. It always seems like people find some weird way to trick themselves into thinking or believing the unreal. It is generally obvious when you look at how rational they are, where they go wrong. Do they actually ask themselves what happened? What explanations there are? Or do they just believe because they want to?

We all hold beliefs that we delude ourselves into believing are true and/or important to the world... when really they aren't any more important than the next guy's. Instead of being critical about someone's harmless beliefs in ghosts, it might do to simply sit back and let them believe what they want to. I repeat: It's harmless. Does someone else believing in a ghost affect you personally?

Personally, I don't believe in ghosts.

But if someone wants to run around and feel frightened and exhilarated and chase "ghosts" in "haunted" houses, then they can have fun doing it. No skin off my nose. Besides... it's fun to watch them do it.

Like I said... there's no reason to say that people like that are completely irrational. We all operate on imperfect perspectives of life and we all derive our beliefs from those imperfect perspectives; even your beliefs, Skorian. Your beliefs aren't any less irrational or imperfectly based than someone who believes in a ghost. Nobody has a perfect understanding of anything that happens to them or to others during their life.

It might be best to just sit back and let **** fly, eh? ;)

I think that they might exist but they are fairly irrelevant in either case. One of my previous theories was that they are essentially the corpses of the mental psyche, still fading away; as such, interacting with them is about as useful as interacting with any other corpse: not very and a bit stinky.

Skorian: if an ant tried to goad or strike a deal with us, it would have very little success too. This does not make us less real, though perhaps insofar as the ant is concerned, it should probably not waste time trying to communicate with us.
