Used to be my favorite holiday, and made me feel all the good stuff inside. After several Xmas's spent alone, I just let it go by like any other day.. This last Xmas, no one even sent me a message on facebook to wish me a merry Xmas.. It's now the most depressing time of the year for me. Bad enough having to deal with winter..
Have you thought about celebrating it for the sake of you? Celebrating that you are here in this world?
Lol... You're saying that to a dude on the depression forums? I may as well Celebrate Xmas for the trash bin, or maybe the microwave

Or even celebrating by helping others. Go volunteer somewhere. Help the less fortunate. Offer to sponsor a family who can't afford Christmas.
Also, I don't know where you live, but there are generally dinners and other activities for those who don't have anyone to celebrate with.
I've always been fairly independent, and I'm not a fan of in your face charity.. I'll sit on the sidelines and collect welfare, and look into getting disability, but not a fan of going to some sad sack, last resort thing. As for helping others, eh.. I live in a tiny town, and tbh, the only people I want to help are kids. cuz the innocent are the only ones that haven't yet been tainted by this world. Most the rest, I don't care much for. And tbh, even the kids.. eh, I mean, I'd like to go to Russia and help the less fortunate ones there. a lot of the ones here are pretty prickish. All this niceness that people speak of when they talk about Canada; it's mostly vanity driven. People will be nice to their friends if they see their freinds as having value of some kind, but ultimately the word 'friend' here is easily interchangeable with acquaintance. As for family, family is expendable. I guess some families are pretty close, but there's nothing in our culture that makes family bonds concrete/solid. My aunt (the only person in my family in my life besides my mother that's made an attempt to connect with me), abandoned me because of a political disagreement on Facebook. Sad to say, Canadian culture sucks.. It's all about Hockey, capitalism, and getting shitfaced (drunk/stoned).. And apparently something to do with beavers, as well as dealing with cold-ass weather..
Anything good, or unique about our culture comes from the native Americans, which has been diluted pretty bad by our culture coming on in, taking over and giving them a free life in return. So now the highlighted part of native culture is the natives getting a free life off of our tax dollars, getting drunk, casinos .etc.. Honestly, I have so much more respect for Russian, Japanese, European, and Mexican culture. Cultures that are historically backed by strong ideals of equality, honor, socialism, and family (in that order). Seems all anyone bases a country's worth and progression on anymore is money..
That was a bit long winded.. Point is, I don't really have much love for this country or the people in it. One of these days I'll find some place I can be happy, if I live that long.
