In recent essence of a school shooting, I'd thought it would be a good idea to discuss guns in general. Countries in Europe that restrict guns have way less homicide rates than we do! Now, I personally have a moderate stance, but I want to know what you guys think.

Should we in America keep gun laws as they are now? Or should we make it tougher for people to buy one?

And if your not living in the United States, discuss your country's gun control laws. Want to be like America or do you prefer having strict gun control laws?

I have no problem with the gun laws. I have 7 shot guns and 2 pistols in my house. The shotguns are locked up and the pistols are under my mattress one on each side.

Dammit, all the best girls are already taken ;)

I think there should be stricter rules on who can buy one. I wouldn't want to own a real gun but that's just me. It's too simple of a weapon to use and it seems more dangerous to me because of that. Yeah it has a safety button, but accidents can happen. So I suppose it's more of a ...eek...keep that away from me. I do realize that if guns were illegial, other weapons would be used in place of those. So yeah...stricter rules.

Hoffy's packing Heat ;)

You know not who to mess with now ;)

BC, do you want a gun chick?

I own several weapons. I was raised in the mountains where a shotgun and a rifle are necessary tools. You don't want to find yourself unarmed when a desperate bear or mountain lion comes sniffing around your property line, especially if you've got animals of your own that you are responsible for keeping safe. If you're far enough up in the boonies like my family is, you don't have the luxury of calling and waiting for authorities to come take care of it.

As a responsible gun owner, I have no problem with the idea of making the process more difficult, as long as you aren't making it impossible. If i have to wait longer, fill out more forms, submit to more rigorous background checks, that's fine with me.

I think guns should be controlled better, but most of all, I think we need stricter gun safety laws. People need to understand how to protect themselves and others, and that does not involve releasing guns to the public, including mentally unstable people.

Also, I think psychiatrists should get involved. People should partake in a mental health exam, before they are allowed to own one. As any diagnosed schizophrenic would tell you, "he isn't sick, the world is." Because of this, you can't possibly rely on a mentally unhealthy person to state he's mentally unhealthy...he doesn't recognize he is, so he can't possibly give an accurate answer.
