Hi everyone. I've been lurking this site for about a month and decided it would be good to start posting.

I'm a 27 year old guy and I'm a musician. All my life, I've struggled with being social. I have a couple of close friends, but I still feel very isolated. I have a tough time with talking to people who I don't know and always feel like I do something awkward when I do interact with others.

I've had a few dates with women, but overall I feel hopeless when it comes to women. Some days I feel like I'll spend the rest of my life alone.

Welcome to the site ak1224. Interesting to hear you're a musician. I do have my thoughts on wanting to learn how to play music on the occasion as a casual activity, mainly classical stuff but I'm too nervous to get myself into it these days. Not to mention being busy studying and getting my IT degree done instead in University too.

As for social life, I can definitely relate to the issue in some way with myself mainly due to being shy and more personally, the thought of having little to no special qualities or values when being judged and compared to as a person in hindsight aside from studies at university. As such, I feel like an outcast whenever people start to compare me in that kind of thought so it's not a nice thing to dwell upon and you're better off keeping at your own pace. Not to mention that I too can have a hard time getting to know new people, especially Women and even with a few close friends, it can be difficult to keep a conversation going smoothly when you don't have many interesting topics you can discuss and feel you can relate to the other person. Perhaps sticking to simple conversations like asking about favourite movies, places, things you are currently doing as such would provide for a less awkward atmosphere but I'm not all that experienced either to be honest. Talking to a Councillor might also help too.

Anyway, I hope everything works out well for you and may the site be of much use to you. I'm sure there are plenty of people who can give you helpful advice.

Tinderleaf,

Thanks for the advice. I do try to do talk about those things, but I guess I just need more practice.

That's awesome that you want to learn how to play music. Classical is actually the music that I play. It's never too late to give it a try!
