How can I find a job from home? Have not worked up to age 53.

I am male, 53 yo, 157 kg. I have moderate Asperger's Syndrome and Depression. I take 75 mg Effexor per day. I have no work experience, but paradoxically I have a Master's Degree in Mathematics. I do not drive a car and the nearest bus stop is a mile away.


I am looking for a job working from home -- mostly for spending money. I would be happy working 15-20 hours per week for $10 to $12 per hour.


Does anyone know how can I start looking for a job?

A job working from home is what I'm looking for too. I'm somewhat misanthropic and can't stand the idea of going back to an environment where I'd be spending 40 hours a week surrounded by people I hate. Remote jobs seem pretty thin on the ground here in the UK at the moment though.

From what I know ageism in tech is pretty common.
There is also the option to go on your own as a freelancer but if you’ll use freelancing sites to find clients the pay can be a race to the bottom as you'll compete with people from around the world, including countries that are very poor.

I was a stay at home mom for 10 years. Had no real experience in anything, but I got a job working at home. Don't sell yourself short. If you see something you think you can do, go for it. You might get it, you might not, but you'll have no chance if you don't at least try, right?

and totally within the confines of one’s own home.

There might be something in there you may qualify for, and if not, may give you a good idea of what you'd like to gain a bit of proficiency in.

If ever there was a time for one's chances of getting a work from home gig, now's the time, since the covid thing increased a lot of work-from-home opportunities.

Also if you decide to take up programming, the Free Software/Open Source scene is a venerable cornucopia for software projects one can help collaborate on. You may not find any paying gigs; but, you can certainly pad a resume/portfolio with contributions to projects. And if you become proficient enough, you could start your own project. Could be a fun hobby/professional passion on the side, if you find you enjoy it.

I would caution using a search to find jobs. Not that there won't be legitimate jobs, but there will also be scams. One big clue is that you should never have to PAY money to make money....the one exception to that is a background check. Most of companies that require one make you pay for your own.
