Hi Everyone. I know that this is a long thread, but it's very important that as many people as possible know more about this drug.

This thread is going to be a little uncharacteristic of what you guys usually see from me, but I'm ******* pissed off and this needs to be said. In most if not all pharmacies and even some corner stores(which is unbelievable. The local pharmacist agrees with me on this one.) There is a medication called "Dimenhydrinate". More commonly known as "Dramamine"(USA) or "Gravol"(Canada). It's often used to treat motion sickness, but it also has a truly devastating side to it when abused by people to get stoned.

From my experience, in large doses it produces a mild to moderate euphoric effect depending on how much you take. Where I live, you have to be 19+ to buy it. The pharmacies in my city keep it behind the counter because of it's addictive power and extremely dangerous high.

You can buy a pack of 30 tablets for a little north of $4.00. you are only allowed to buy a maximum of 2 packs at any given time. When I used to take it, I started off taking only around 6-7 every couple of hours, but then my system started to build a tolerance to it requiring higher doses to achieve the desired effect. Long story short, after about a month or two of using, I was then taking all 30 tablets at once.

I then found myself buying a pack a day. Eventually the pharmacist caught on and would not sell it to me any more. That's another reason that they are kept behind the counter so the pharmacy can keep tabs on how much any individual was buying.

After about a year of abusing it, I started noticing bad things happening to me. Being so scared of not knowing what was going to happen to me if I don't do something right away. I went to the family doctor and fessed up to abusing them and how ****** they were making me feel. I had no idea what was to come after the doctor examined me and sent me out for tests to see just what this **** was doing to me.

These details are embarrassing, but if it stops just one person from taking these, then I'm satisfied. After all the tests and everything were done, this is what it was doing to me.

1. Turbo Charged sex drive.
2. It was damaging my stomach lining causing great pain.
3. Very disturbing thoughts.
4. Extremely aggressive behavior.
5. Because it also has an effect on your middle ear causing incredible changes in your body's sense of balance, I'd fall sometimes just walking down the street. Kind of like when you are drunk. Because of some permanent damage, I can no longer drive a peddle bike because I'd fall off due to my injured sense of balance.

These days, far too many poor souls become addicted to this drug that many many people suffer cardiac arrest and death. Mixing it with alcohol like many teens do to intensify the high have died as a result. When some people who don't abuse it hear about this, they are surprised to hear that it can get you high. Some would say: "...You can get high off Gravol?!...".

The reason why so many react this way is because there just isn't enough coverage done on the drug and it's devastating effects. Know this guys and gals, this product kills. I'm so ******* sick and tired of people dying from this drug. If I had the power, I'd ban that **** in a heartbeat!

How many ******* people have to die before we as a society smarten the **** up and give this drug the attention it deserves as it can kill you even though you don't need a prescription to buy it. I don't mean to sound like some bitter man who needs to bitch and moan over it. The drug companies that make this **** don't care one bit about the people taking it. It's all about the scratch, nothing else.

This drug is so dangerous. Please don't ever make the same mistake I did.

1. yeah, its should probably require a prescription.2
2. maybe its just because i never had the desire to get high or drunk, but if you want to get high off of something that can kill you (basically any drug), that's your own damn fault for not using your right mind. i never understood why people risk their lives for some goofy euphoria. i understand even less when they later act flabbergasted when they find what they were taking could have killed them. no one's holding you down and forcing you to abuse drugs.
i mean that with all the respect in the world. i recognize desperate people do desperate things, and really don't mean to offend, just to share my opinion.

I wonder if anyone has ever tried intentionally to kill themself with this drug.

There will be people who choose to abuse substances.

Taking everything off the market & making it prescription only is not the answer.

The choice lies in what people choose to do.

What should we do? Take everything off the market that could be potentially dangerous to someone if abused?

That would include just about everything in existence, from ropes to spoons - vitamins to laundry detergent.
:rolleyes2:

I stopped taking them a long time ago.

Hold on a sec, I gotta go to the pharmacy for a bit. I'll brb. :)

You can get high from Dramamine? I never knew. I have some in my purse right now because I get severe motion sickness nearly every time I'm a passenger in a car.
I don't agree with it being regulated, though. You can get high and even die from huffing and that stuff isn't even sold in pharmacies. Heck, I've used Sharpie markers that made me woozy.

There are easier and nicer ways to go than this stuff.

Plenty of over the counter drugs are harmful if abused the same way you did. Aspirin can cause allergic reactions the same way your Dramamine can induce seizures. Not to mention the organ damage sustained from almost any pharmaceutical drug being consumed over a long period in relatively small amounts.

Basically: If we start making 'dangerous' things illegal we wont have Q-Tips for fear someone may puncture an ear drum. It's not the company's fault people don't follow the directions.

Good Question. Prolonged abuse causes a state of depression that truly is horrible. Believe me, I know. This depression will only get worse as time goes by. Once despair kicks in, that's when suicide becomes attractive.

I'm not a doctor. It's just the way things went for me. I can't say how it will affect other fellow members with any certainty.

God Bless.

I could say more about this but I won't.

I wouldn't wish depression on anyone though, not even my worst enemy. Its a horrid commonly underestimated disease...
