Yes, people make friends and find a partner later in life, but that is after they experience all this and more in youth and have moved on. It isn't fair to expect someone who missed all that to feel the same way, when they are essentially stuck in stasis still waiting for their 20s to happen.
The one positive thing here is, at 30, you can still pass for younger and hang out with people in their mid-late 20s without it looking too "creepy" yet. That's not an option for me, but if I were you, I'd be angling for a slightly younger crowd closer to your life experience level.
Most of the people in my age group are, frankly, way too old for me to want to be around. They have the usual tired been there/done that mentality about them, because, well, they have been there and done it, and I guess they don't want a repeat screening of their youth. That doesn't work for me though. Not interested in a relationship with a middle aged woman either, who would have 20+ years of relationship experience, might just be settling, so we can spend the dull part of life together.
But at 30 you still have some time, and I hope you get the point here that you need to get on to this quickly. Whatever you do, don't go near reddit for advice.
