The opportunity just never really presented itself and in fact I don't really understand how relationships are formed. I guess I've never really been emotionally close enough to any woman to be in a position to consider asking one out. At school I never particularly socialised with girls and this trend continued through college and into "real life". Consequently I find myself as a 32 year old man with absolutely zero romantic and intimate experience and I've no way of explaining why other than It just kind of "happened" that way. Some folks just drift in and out of relationships as if it's nothing and that thoroughly baffles me. Anyone else here in a similar predicament?

Well perhaps not quite the same situation, but I was mid-20's before I found someone. What I would say is that you have to decide what you want and then to make every effort to attain that. Relationships rarely drop into someone's lap, you have to work at it and maybe try a few times before things click. There are lots of potential disappointments but it's all part of the journey. I found internet dating a wild ride but it eventually worked, the results can be worth the bumps.

The thing to remember is that a relationship and the consequences of a relationship are a responsibility. You have to show commitment and a go-get sort of attitude from the start. That doesn't mean being rude or overtly sexual or anything like that, but showing a girl that you're the kind of guy who makes an effort and who wants to be a good partner counts for a lot. Relationships lead to potentially sharing a home, having kids etc, and all of that stuff means stress and curve balls down the years. Are you the kind of guy who can go through that with her?

When it comes to relationships people talk a lot about looks and money etc, but really being a responsible and caring type of person is the real key. Looks do help but it's not as important as people make out, and the same goes for money. It's useful stuff and it's good to be responsible with it, but it doesn't mean you have to be a millionaire.

I am in a similar situation. 27 now and no girlfriend. I've had romantic experiences but they were all unhealthy. Never been in an actual relationship. 2 of them were with women who were with someone else at the time and 1 with one who didn't want anything serious.

With all due respect, our situations don't really compare as you've experienced intimacy and I haven't. I wouldn't say we're in a "similar situation" by any stretch of the imagination.

Well, the response was to your thread title. If this is only for the never been with a girl club then that's what should have been in the title I.E. I've never been with a woman at 32..........................

OK, duly noted. I was thinking of having had a girlfriend as being synonymous with having experienced intimacy though, which in my mind it is, but I guess not for everyone.

I'm also approximately 32 and a half. I agree, it certainly doesn't seem to be getting any easier, emotionally.
