I was raised a Christian, but seeing THAT ADVERTISEMENT under every post makes me want to blow my head off.

Anybody else? Thoughts? :D

Yes, Adblock Plus for Firefox. It seems to work for me rather nicely. Here on ALL, instead of showing ads it just has the word "ADVERTISEMENTS" written in plain text.

Dunno if safari has something similar. I think chrome does.

OMG, I just discovered an adblock extension for Safari. I should have done this months ago. Take that, Jesus Christ is Lord ADS!

EDIT: Jesus does not approve of this post. :[

Thank you, advertisements blocked. :D

Idk, I'm going to miss the CougarLife.com ads or the BDSM-Friend-Finder.com ads.

Hmm

Torn.

You're more than welcome. I've been using adblock for so long now that I really don't know how I'd be able to tolerate returning to an ad-riddled internet, unless of course they were all ads for BDSM-Friend-Finder.com.

I always get a chuckle out of that ad you are referring to. There is no spamming here, no religious discussion, yet this religious ad shows up if you aren't using a AdBlock.(I don't know who in their right mind wouldn't use one, but.) I think the ads are there because sometimes allowing certain ads on your forum means you can use a specific service for free in exchange. I'm not sure.

I guess an example would be using a service that will provide you a logo in exchange for advertising their company. Again, I'm sure that we can all agree that a Bill Gates I am not. Just thought I'd comment anyway.

This forum actually makes for a pleasant experience, once you:

1. Install adblock
2. Turn off signatures
3. Turn off avatars

All that visual overstimulation is maddening. There were many people whose posts I wouldn't even read because looking at their signatures made me want to drown in my own vomit. Now I can read the content without my eyes being raped.

Not a big fan of avatars and sigs huh?

While i can understand not wanting to see the advertisements and even doing something about it, those ads are there to help pay the expenses of keeping the forum running. As such maybe it would be better to take to PM this discussion on how to circumvent the forums attempt to pay its bills.
