I do not conside myself shy, yet I am alone. Basically it takes to to make a friendship. If I am willing to talk and be open but others are not then guess what I am still going to be alone... I find that people are afraid to open up and connect for fear that they will be rejected witch hurts. They are more afraid of the rejection then they are lonely... The would rather be lonely then take the risk of being rejected... Thats what I find, and I find that quite often actually... and thats my 2 cents.
