Does reputation even matter? I know it's nice to feel accepted, but it doesn't really serve any purpose. You don't get any extras from it and it's not like your opinion is suddenly more valued - at least I hope it isn't.

However, I have noticed that it can go down if someone that had previously rated you 'unregisters', so perhaps I pay more attention to it than I think.

The best way to get them is to POST OFTEN. People "rep" you when you say something they like or they get to know you by your posts and rep you because they like you.
People tend to rep people when they offer something helpful to people here on the forum.

No. But we used to have The Plaza. We'd get "points" for making threads and posts and we could buy "stuff" like pics of things and we could send other members hugs and "stuff" that we bought. It was AWESOME!
