The Second Era was a period of political and social upheaval in Tamriel. The continent was split into several independent regions, and various factions vied for power and influence. This era began with the collapse of the Second Empire of Tamriel, which had ruled over the continent for several centuries.
One of the major events of the Second Era was the Alliance War, a series of conflicts between three major factions that sought to control Tamriel: the Aldmeri Dominion, the Daggerfall Covenant, and the Ebonheart Pact. The Aldmeri Dominion was led by the Altmer, who sought to re-establish Elven dominance over Tamriel. The Daggerfall Covenant was a union of the Bretons, Redguards, and Orcs, who sought to resist Elven rule and establish a united Tamriel. The Ebonheart Pact was an alliance between the Nords, Dunmer, and Argonians, who sought to defend their territories against the other factions.
During the Second Era, Tamriel also faced threats from external forces, such as the invading Akaviri and the Daedric Prince Molag Bal, who attempted to merge his realm of Coldharbour with Tamriel. In response, a group of heroes known as the Five Companions led a rebellion against Molag Bal and his minions, culminating in the events of the Planemeld, a massive conflict that threatened to destroy Tamriel.
The Second Era also saw the rise of several important figures, such as the Prophet, a mysterious figure who played a key role in the events of the Planemeld, and Abnur Tharn, a powerful mage and adviser to the Empire. Other significant events of the Second Era include the assassination of Empress Regent Clivia Tharn, the Akaviri Invasion of 2E 572, and the signing of the Ebonheart Pact.
