I am saddened by the news that 9 Brave Rescuers of lives of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away during their duties today.

They were HEROES.

We think our lives are tough?
But What about those people who risked and lost their lives in the line of their duties?
What about their dreams, hopes, and plans for their future and families?
They risked all. They sacrificed all.
They died in, sufferings, burnt, and unfathomable amount of pain.
What about us?
We're still here today...
thinking our life couldn't be worst than anybody.

They are our role models.

Who cares if my life sucks or is lonely. I had always wanted to end my life.
But They make me wanna be like them. Live on, Fight On. With Courages and Braveries, till the day that i die, even as I'd be overwhelmed with loneliness and sufferings, i will live on, till my last breath, and be able to say, "i was a Hero."

Amen to that. I hate when things like these happen, especially to people who live to rescue. I am proud to be a member of the same forum as the guy who wrote so proudly of the lives of these heroes. Those are some very strong words there, Alex. I share Your thoughts and feelings for these people and wish their souls the best of after-lives.

There's only one thing i'd like to add:

I think that they not only died doing what they wanted to do in life, but also that they knew, deep down, behind the "Oh it's just my job"-attitude, that they were heroes.

I totally agree. Firefighters are real heroes, unlike cops. (I don't like cops). Firemen actually risk their lives to save others. This is so sad. I'm sure that while they are grieving, the firemen's families are incredibly proud that their men died to save other people.

Someone bumped this poor guy's suicide thread; I thought I'd bump a more optomistic one by him.

What he says, especially at the end, is good. Some of us will be lonely and suffer till the day we die, but as he says, we must be brave and fight on. We will have made ourselves stronger and better people and we will have acheived a victory that the non-lonely cannot even imagine.

Well said, Guest. I'll join the bump. ;)
