Would anyone like to share their hobbies? Maybe your hobby could provide inspiration for those of us who are looking for a new pastime!

One of my hobbies is painting by numbers. It's quite relaxing and therapeutic, a bit like adult colouring in books - but with this you end up with a proper painting that you can frame if you want to. (You can even tell people you painted it yourself, forgetting to mention it was actually done from a painting by numbers kit!;))

Here's one I completed recently.

Beautiful! My mum used to do paint-by-numbers when I was a kid, we had a houseful of paintings she did.

My main hobbies are LEGO and video games, particularly RPG games. I have a ton of LEGO sets to build and currently don’t have a space to display them. I need to get some new bookshelves since we sold our old ones when we moved across the country last year. This year, I have asked Santa for this LEGO set, The Endurance. It’s based on the voyage of Sir Ernest Shackleton to Antarctica in 1915. His ship, the Endurance, became trapped in ice, but the entire crew miraculously survived the voyage. And should Santa come through, I actually have a spot for this beauty - pride of place on the mantle above the fireplace. I have a soft spot for Maritime/ocean-based LEGO sets.

Ah, I used to love Lego when I was a kid, and would happily play with it now if I had the space!

I still have my old 1970s Lego - I passed it onto my daughter when she was little, and we added to it by buying her some more. Now she's all grown up, it's sitting in a box up the loft. Perhaps I should get it down, and have a play with it over Christmas! :D

You should! You are never too old to play! Be a kid again and perhaps it will spark some of that simple joy and magic of childhood. Merry Christmas to you! ❄️🎄😊

Nothing wrong with that. LEGO takes patience.

That painting is very nice.

My hobbies are sports games and even older ones that I get to run on my computer.
I used to do photo albums but I have let that slide now. My subscription will run out soon and I won't renew.

I might just do that! I bet my daughter would be up for it too! :)

I do still build stuff, but only virtually…

When I played with Lego as a kid, I mostly built houses. When I’d finished them I used to wish I could go inside them, but of course I couldn’t as they were only about 12 inches high.

A few years ago I joined the online virtual world Second Life, and discovered that you can build stuff there with virtual building blocks that look like plywood, and then add textures to the blocks to make them look like bricks/tiles/windows etc. So there I’m able to build houses that are big enough for me (my avatar) to go inside, which is fun!

Here are some of my (virtual) builds, with my avatar standing next to most of them so you get an idea of size.
