I happened upon this book quite by accident. The author writes beautifully, and it's quite an interesting book.

Edit two weeks later - after several chapters in, I just couldn't read it anymore. Just kept on and on with the spy-type talk building a back story that it drove me to utter boredom.

I didn't know there was a sequel to Catch 22 by Joseph Heller, which I really enjoyed (not the movie though) but I've just started reading Closing Time.

I didn't know there was a sequel to Catch 22 by Joseph Heller, which I really enjoyed (not the movie though) but I've just started reading Closing Time.

So, i tried to persevere, but after a 1/3 of the way in I just didn't want to read any more. It wasn't anywhere near as pleasurable to read as Catch 22. I wonder what sort of frame of mind Heller was in, like, did he think he was writing humour, drama, thrills, I have no idea, but it was so boring and a chore to read.
