It has taught me:

-not to get involved in flame wars
-not to give advice to people who won't listen
- how to deal with differing points of view
-humor (which has carried onto offline)
-how to make friends (if only I had better self esteem I bet I would make more offline)
- that I can only give so much of myself because there will always be someone that needs help, and I have to look after myself before I can look after others
-be careful what I say
- how to be silly (I was too serious before I came here lol)
-resilience in some things

That there are people out there with way greater social issues than I have.
That some people want help, others just want to wallow in self pity.
That most people with social issues are really great gals and guys.
That humour is what saves the day.
That I have a short temper when it comes to stupidity.

if somebody disagrees with you, it means you are a troll, you can debate something with someone, and after a while they keep disagreeing and they just call you a troll.

girls love censorship, and anyone who challenges the status quo is a lunatic, anyone who disagrees with their empire is a maniac, a loser, a creep, a freak, etc. etc.

social darwinism reinforcement at it's finest

I would ask you some questions firebird, but I believe that would derail the topic.

A little add: The forum is trying to teach me that I have some sort of personality flaw that annoys people, but I have yet to fully understand how and when it happens.

That there are people who fully and utterly live in their own reality.

EDIT: Gaaah, typo. I feel ashamed.

-How to let go.

Maybe you just need more time to understand what it is. :)

I've learned tons of things, THERE IS NO ESCAPE FROM PEOPLE CALLED JOHN, how to kill a rhino with my bare hands, where to buy viagra online and various other pieces of extremely useful information

Also learned the Kaio-ken and the Spirit Bomb

1. That I enjoy helping/talking to other people, but that it's not always easy to know what to say/type/do to help.
2. That there's people with some serious problems here. Knowing that makes it somehow easier to deal with my own issues, as they seem more insignificant in comparison.
3. That Floffy's (goo) and awesome :D
4. That there's some awesome, friendly and very fun people on ALL.

Okay. Without the jokes... I haven't exactly learned anything by being here, but I've gained something valuable anyway.

A lot of us have had similar experiences, and we can find empathy here. Even if our community is unable to eradicate loneliness, being here has made me feel a little less alone.

Being here has also given me a great opportunity to practice expressing myself. Doing that via internet has helped me to improve on that in "real life" situations.

That there are a bunch of fun sounding people I might actually have stuff in common with, and none of them live anywhere near me. >_<

Haha....feels like one of those essays "What I did over the Summer" that you had to do on the first day of school back in the days...anyways :p

I learned why some people ARE lonely and will continue to if they don't change their ways. I've learned that some people just want to complain and are content in being unhappy, that they don't want your advice. To end it on a positive note, I've learned that there are some amazing people that are on here or were on here that don't deserve the hand they were dealt but keep fighting to make things better.
