Good morning once again. I'm curious as to how many of you have formed solid friendships and/or intimate relationships from a forum or social media group? This forum included.

I'd like to think I have.

I've definitely felt a sense of commonality, relatability, and real, strong, deep feelings for people I've met online both in a romantic and platonic sense.

The fact that I met a person online, doesn't make the person any less real to me.

I think the connections I make online are as real as my offline friends.
All that's different is the means of communication.
But there's a real person on the other end of these forums and messenger services.

I think if your connection is authentic, based on the way you really think, feel, the way you really are, then it doesn't matter if you meet them in the offline or online world.
If it's real and meaningful, then it's real and meaningful. Simple as that.

Agree! 💯

I'd say it's been nice to have my life be busy, but come back here and have a sense of community that is somewhat like-minded and non-judgemental. So, in many ways, my connections on here are not as close as some others, but are still a vital part of my mental network. I appreciate everyone in here who makes an effort to stay connected.

I've had a few people that I've talked to over the years from ALL. Only one I still currently do. I've only actually met one ALL person offline however.

I've had other friends from other sites including friends I made while gaming. I've met a few people from the net but I don't make a habit out of it lol

This thread made me think of the short life we all have. The life which we all think as too long.

I have met 3 people from this forum in real. I think last one was about 9 years ago. All of them left the forum. My offline connection with 2 stayed alive for a few years and then that died off too.

Like Ska said, just because it is online doesn't mean it is any less. I realized it after a few of my good online friends passed away. Many followed after that. One of the reasons I don't post or come online here much these days. It brings out this buried, deep sadness. The realization that I cannot talk to these people anymore and they left this world. It is disturbingly painful. So, I log in to the chat once in a while and talk to a few people. I am scared of making new friends here for this reason alone.

I have a list of people here that I would like to meet atleast once in life, before I leave this world (or they).
