Just beginning to notice a lot of discussions on this site are "closed " for further discussion. Kinda takes some of the gun out of the site not to br permitted to comment on a topic that seems interesting for reasons unknown.

Is there really so much bitterness and animosity between members here?

Do these members have contact or dialogue with each other in private?

It seems a lot of wasted something or other. I've kinda lost my starch now.

Depends on the topic and people. Several people here have issues with me because I speak bluntly and don't sugar coat anything.

As for the interesting topics, it could have simply been closed because people argued and wouldn't stop...and yes I'm probably in some of those. Lol
Anyway, as long as the topic isn't speaking going to cause a debate the mods usually don't mind people starting new threads about them. If you're unsure, just PM Sci or Minus and ask if you can make a new thread about it. But search for the topic first because chances are there is likely already another thread about the topic.

Honestly, yeah, sometimes. But thankfully I'd say it's not that common. You may have just stumbled across a patch of closed threads.

Threads that are made about touchy subjects, or when people aren't in a good emotional state, can become arguments fast.

Still, all in all, I wouldn't say that thread closures or fights are the norm. They happen, especially given the nature of this place, but I still wouldn't say that most threads are like that.

Yeah, I think the ones catching my interest were probably closed due to people gnawing each other's ankles. I guess I'm drawn to that stuff. I'm probably the same way. I have been known to be impulsive and sometimes thoughtless and reactionary. Guess I can look forward to being involuntarily muted.
