My uppers grew in, in my mid-twenties. They are still there and pushed all my other teeth tightly together. Dental floss will not get between them. I'm sure they will start chipping and splitting at some point.
My bottoms didn't have enough room to grow in. So, in my early 30s they cut open my gums and broke them up into smaller pieces with a chisel and then pulled the pieces out. Well, except one piece on one side which got infected. It was so painful I pretty much got lock jaw.
So, they went back in and did their thing. I was never put under during either procedure. The first procedure was really painful. The second time I didn't want to move my jaw at all for a couple weeks. I lost about 35 pounds, which I couldn't afford to loose, during that period.
Also, the doctor said, both times, that the big holes in my jaw would eventually fill in. Nope, now I have to big holes that food always gets trapped into. So, on a regular basis I have to stick a finger in my mouth and scope the food out of the holes.
However, if you let you wisdom teeth get impact and can't grow out on their own you will get lock jaw until they are removed and it will be WAY more painful for you. So, IMO, you should get them out ASAP.
Good Luck.
