I'm a 55 year old man - lived all my life in the UK. I spend a lot of time on my own, some elements of this solitary lifestyle are ok but I do get lonely, which is how I found this site...
Reading some of the posts makes me realise that I was lucky in my twenties and thirties. I had no such issues as I read on here from young people - it saddens me.
I have a low status job in which I am thrust into contact with lots of people. Some days I return home from work to my empty house and relish the peace and quiet! A weekend without any human contact however and doubts begin to creep into my mind - what about when I retire? how do I meet people?
I don't know what the future holds but anyhow it's great to see this site - this is the real upside of the Internet! An online community of lonely people!

:D Welcome, CMD!
Id been watching to see if you posted, as I LOVED the screen name you selected!
I understand where you're coming from also. Im a 45 year old single mom of an 8 year old and I deal with people (usually on the phone) all day and I do relish coming in to a quiet home once the work day is done. The weekends, as you suggested, are a different matter. I do get bored and lonely sometimes. And...this is the place where I generally come to have a little human contact. :D
Im sure you'll find a little something here to occupy yourself. Try the games section...it can kill hours of your time if several people are posting.
Again, welcome!

Thank you so much! Just saw your post and it feels amazing that someone out there read something I just wrote! I've had no human contact today (Sunday) and this has really cheered me up!

hello CrazyMoondance, welcome -I also see people only when I go out for work, and although I enjoy the peace and quiet honestly I hate coming back to an empty house, can't wait to move and have some flatmates, or at least some Couchsurfers.

Welcome to the site.

I too deal with people all day long and and glad to get back to the quiet. I am beginning to realize that i spend too much time alone and the future implications are rather unsettling.

Thanks to you all for your welcomes! Think you got to the heart of it Minus - the present can be bad enough but it's those moments when you ponder the future....
