I met a guy online (eharmony) and now we're supposed to meet on Wednesday at Starbucks. What the hell am I supposed to talk about?! :D Maybe the fact that I've been on like two dates in the past 5 years, yeah, I'm sure that'll be a big turn on - lol.
It will be nice to talk to an adult and to be talking about any other subject besides Dora the Explorer and Barbie princesses.
Wish me luck - We'll see how it goes - he sounds very....eager.

Ask him a lot of questions and get him talking about his life. Then when you find something you have in common, talk more about that.

Good luck and congrats :)

Teresa, you go girl!

As you know I've been equally nervous and anxious about my own recent developments, so I think I can relate. All I can say is don't be afraid to let your trepidation turn in to excitement. I was nervous tonight, but I let it turn in to excitement and it went very well.

Just ask basic questions about his life. His goals or recent objectives. What does he like to do and -how- did he get in to those hobbies? I find that's a good one; asking each other how they picked up their pastimes.

Make sure to smile genuinely and give him a little laugh where it's appropriate. That lets me know I'm not boring a girl to death and I imagine it will work for him, too (assuming you are in to him when you meet!).

Coffee is the perfect first date, keep that in mind; if things go awesome, you can go for a walk after, or just have a sit outside. If things go poorly and it gets awkward or uncomfortable with no hope of return, you can always drink faster and politely excuse yourself.

Excellent!! You'll do fine, just relax and ask questions like Dreamer said. Also if he knows you have a child you can relate cute moments to him about her as well. Good luck on this and ENJOY!!

Oh, yay! Have fun. :) I like that first coffee date. The getting to know you stage can be interesting. I usually use that time to see if we have any interests in common. If we don't, then sometimes his experiences/interests are sufficiently, um, interesting to get him to talk about. I like to get the other person talking and comfortable.

Best of luck. :D

Hey, great tips everyone. Maybe I should take a little cheat sheet with me!! :D :D :D
Yeah, will post on how it goes. He'd better not flake!!!

Hi-
It went swimmingly. He lives 45-60 minutes away so I was glad he drove to my neck of the woods, he definitely gets points for that. He was there when I got to Starbucks, I got out of the car, his eyes got big and he said "hey, you're cute!" Then I turned beet red and said "thanks!"
And I was trying to remember my ALL tips for conversation on the way to meeting him -lol. I thought it went well, we'll see where things go!
So if a big old dweeb like me can manage not to fall completely on her face, I guess there's hope for everyone here too :)

I'm glad to hear it went well Teresa, hopefully things will get where you want them to. :)
