@ Minus, I was at Walmart yesterday checking out the clearance aisle, and guess what I saw. A pickle tree ornament with candy inside : ) I thought to myself, hmm, I think I've seen one of these before

Seems possible. Fresh Gourmet has their own brand of them and they refer to them as a "Crunchy Snack and Sandwich Topper" and suggest they also be used on burgers, Mac n Cheese and potato salad.

As a young kid, I saw some movie where a character blamed having a nightmare on haven eaten pickles and ice cream.

I tried eating pickles and ice cream in the hopes that it would give me nightmares. It didn't work.
