Need Recipe For Traditional Or Personal English Style Fish And Chips Batter

Hi All.


Seeing as how many members here are British, I thought I'd ask about this here. My mother is looking for a recipe for traditional English fish batter that doesn't include beer. I googled it, even looked for Gordon Ramsay's recipe. I'm having a difficult time trying to find just the recipe for the fish batter itself.

I was hoping that maybe one of our British members might have a simple recipe that they use personally or know someone else's recipe for the batter that could be recommended that doesn't include beer. Any help however little, would be much appreciated.

Hiya Lonekiller ,

I could be really wrong here, but we can buy batter here in packets just mix with egg and water. But they are the same recipe as pancake mix, but without the bi-soda, I am sure they are.

If anyone knows otherwise please feel free to correct me.

Just use a beer batter recipe and replace the beer with soda water.
