My sister seems to think, quite strongly too, that it is massively unlucky that I own two wedding dresses. She seems convinced that this will jinx me.

Does anyone agree with this?

What I find laughable is neither of them fit but the bridesmaid dress I have (not made for me) does! :p

I am a superstitious person but I haven't heard of this one before. If I ever get married, I must get rid of mum's old wedding dress before buying one for myself just incase.

My rather extensive knowledge of the occult, oddly enough, does not include the Curse of the Two Wedding Dresses. I suppose it implies that you may be married twice, however, which entails at least one divorce unless polyandry is in your future.

Well, if it helps, I only have one wedding dress and my marriage was "doomed to end"
So, take from it what you will. I don't see that as being a bad omen or whatever, it's just dresses.

I'm not sure if its the fact that there's two of them its more that I have any without being proposed to. I'm not really suspicious but she seems convinced that it will mean no one will ever ask me.

I mean she's probably right but I don't think it will have anything to do with the dresses!

I think she might just be a bit of a loon :)

Fair point! I love vintage clothes, they are both vintage dresses. If I had my own place I'd have them up on display.

If I ever was to get married I would definitely buy an vintage dress rather than a new one. Or I'd get one of my altered to fit.

Ohhh....okay..that makes more sense and isn't creepy :p

There was this bridal dress show....I think it was called "Say Yes to the Dress"? Anyways, this woman was shopping...for a wedding dress.....for her wedding...but she doesn't even have a boyfriend. I just found it weird :/, but whatever floats your boat...

Yeah thats a bit well premature at the very least!

I have worn mine round the house because dressing up is fun. I do fear the postman or someone coming and having to answer the door though. If they fitted I bet I'd be tempted to run for a bus looking flustered in one! :p

I do own a lot of weird, pointless and vintage stuff I must admit.

This makes any argument towards the occult moot.

But...

If you had them for your wedding when you weren't close to getting married then yes you would have reason to worry. I wouldn't call it a curse but at that point it'd be safe to assume you had developed some sort of issue and rushed every relationship far too fast therefore ruining it.

Yeah I mean its not like I run out and get a wedding dress the moment I meet a guy or anything. Actually the last one I was with knew I had them because we had a chat about silly things we'd bought. He didn't seem freaked out or anything.

I'll do you a favor and not include you on what his internal guy dialogue consisted of. Ha! I'm going to be the only person to laugh at this...

-_-

:p I did smile. Honestly though he wasn't bothered. He thought some other stuff I have was silly but he understood that.

Anyway his ego must have been massive if he was thinking I was so desperate to marry him already. That said we could have had such adorable ginger children! :D

weee. I think you should buy another one. I love vintage dresses too but sadly I don't own one. it's too expensive! I'd like to go to a good flea market the one like that episode of ''are you afraid of the dark'' where a girl got lotsa cool stuff from this gypsy but as it turns out would have to pay more for what she took. Apart from the magical gypsy and paying for your soul part, I love vintage items, clothes, papers, fabric, etc!

you should take a pic of your dresses and let us ogle on them with envy :D

as for the superstitious stuff, there is also this superstitious belief of having more the merrier :D
