Online grocery shopping. Don’t know if you have that option where you live, but man, oh, man, is it ever a gamechanger. I despise grocery shopping, it is the singlemost stressful experience of modern daily living. For large grocery trips, it is so much easier than going in person. You just order everything online - when the order is ready, you drive to the store, park, let them know you’ve arrived, then they bring out your order and load it into your car and off you go. No stress, no crowds, no overstimulation by all those products and bright lights and displays.
Yeah, no. lol

Germany, where I live, isn't anywhere near as advanced as, for example, the US.
And when you add to that living in the countryside, like me - hell, I can't even get randomly every fast food delivery service coming to my village, let alone grocery deliveries 🤣 You would be surprised how many online services that are daily standard in other countries are still lacking over here. Something you don't know unless you live here 😁

With that said, I'm glad it's working for You since you despise grocery shopping! 🥬🍒🥓🌯
For me it's the opposite - actually I love grocery shopping! It's just today that ended up being stressful for various reasons 😃

I get it. I live in a rural area, too, in Canada - groceries are a half-hour away and there's no fast food delivery where I live.

Glad you love grocery shopping! Here, we have a lot of the 'big-box' stores where everything is under one roof - they are very large, overwhelming places for someone who is sensitive, hence my dislike of them. If I had my way, I'd happily shop at a corner Ma-and-Pa type store, but those are sadly disappearing.

I hope your day ends up being less stressful. :)

Ahhh, that makes sense indeed. My grocery store is just a "regular" grocery store, thankfully. There are a couple more things inside the same building, but you're not forced to have any contact with them, you can just walk past 😃

I'll bet Canada is beautiful, though! Have you lived there all your life?

While it doesn't change the size, I see one chain has started what they call "sensory-friendly hours".
It seems they "will change the TV walls to a static image, turn off the radio and lower the lights where possible in order to make their stores a less stimulating environment".

I don't know what else may be involved but just turning off their piped in radio would be an improvement.

For the most part, yes. I was born in Australia and we immigrated here when I was a young child. I lived most of my life on the West Coast of Canada, Alberta and British Columbia, but recently moved across the country to the East Coast in Nova Scotia. Both are equally beautiful.

I bet Germany is beautiful too, I would love to visit one day.

Oh dear. I’d like to know more about this. What happened?
Sorry was passed out yesterday so just seen this.

Basically I'm a council tennant but this flat complex is due to be torn down at some point, several people have been moved out and their flats sealed up. I went in to talk about what's happening with the rest of us and was told they know nothing and to speak to a different council which me and my family did before so that's one thing.

I also went into the job centre to talk to someone about it all and was sent away saying put it in your journal so that was another thing.

And just overal was an exhausting day where wherever I went looking for help I was turned away

Still exhausted and could probably have worded it all better but yeah dunno just kinda sucked yesterday xD

Wow, that sounds like quite the move, from Australia to Canada 😃 Do you still have relatives down under?

Germany? Yeah, I guess it has its nice spots 😅 I myself consider our food among the best in the world.
Apart from those two things, nothing worse visiting here. Pretty damn dangerous in some areas, to be honest. I haven't read/watched/listened to news in years and years and years, but what little I hear during family gatherings scares the hell out of me. 'nough about that, though.

Have a nice weekend 😃

This is seriously awesome.
Kudos to you for managing to do this especially in today's world where media is more accessible than ever, to the point of us being bombarded with it.
I've tried shutting it out at various points in time but haven't reached this level of success blocking it out.

Well, thank you - I wasn't aware it was a big deal, lol 😅
I guess I was never a big "news" person to begin with, so there wasn't a whole lot of desire I had to overcome to not go to news pages, etc. I'm not on social media, either; don't know if that makes a difference in the matter.

I suppose if you want to "detox", but find it hard to stick to it - set shorter durations. Go a whole day without, then indulge (only if you feel like it). Or three days, or a week, wherever your current threshold lies 😃

Yes, I have a bad tendency to become a news "junkie" of sorts, seeking out the news even though I know I'm not going to like what I find.

I understand there's a certain amount of news that's always going to slip through.

I will try your duration method, it seems pretty sound to me.
Whenever I try to quit something, even just getting into the habit of "not" doing the thing, makes it easier to keep going.

Exactly, it's a habit! You're conditioning yourself. 😃

Good luck. You do come across like you have the willpower stashed away to do it 😁

Willpower is actually something I struggle with a lot.
If I were an RPG character it would be among my lowest scores.
But, I am trying to be more self-aware instead of repeating negative patterns of behavior mindlessly.
It is very much a two steps forward, one step back kind of deal.
