This is a terrible picture because I couldn't find my good camera this morning (even though it was sitting right in front of me, as my 5-year old pointed out the moment the deer went up the road!), but this makes the place I live special. I live in a fairly small town in the Kootenays, BC, Canada. Lovely place, just moved from Vancouver Island a few months ago and so happy we moved. Love the snow, and the deer roaming through town make it even more special. :)

and the Rocky Mountains too...(another bad pic, sorry! I should post some good ones.)

Some really beautiful backdrops there, thats awesome, and great shot of the deer as well, although im not a fan of snow you can keep that part lol.

We usually have no government (400 days)
if we do, they ruin our country.

octagon-house-laurens1_zpsf60f32e8.jpg

This is the Octagon House. When i was a little kid we used to stay with this lady down the street from it and you know how kids are, theyd always tell stories about the place being haunted because it was abandoned. Well anyway the story goes that the house dates back to the time of the civil war and there were these tunnels hidden under the house that used to be used in conjunction with the underground railroad.

Well anyways me and my friend joey at the time get the bright idea were gonna go in the place and check it out being the brave nine and ten year old explorers we were in our infiinite wisdom lol. Anyway so long story short all i really remember is it was dark as hell my heart was beating about a thousand miles per hour and there was these really claustrophobic stair cases that circled around and went straight up, very steep climb. We searched the bottom floor for the tunnels but didnt find anything so we decided to go upstairs.

As were climbing these stairs i got this feeling of dread and when i got to the very top of the stairs i dont know if it was really there or wtf it was i was little kid and i was scared. But i swear it was some kinda werewolf statue or a mask or something lol. When we seen it, it was kinda like this...

I dont know what it was we hauled ass out of the place so fast that i think we actually fell down the stairs at the end but we were so scared we didnt even notice. It was that oh **** im invulnerable kinda scared. We managed to make it out and the wolfman didnt eat us lol. But it still makes me laugh everytime i think back about that place.

Other interesting facts about the house is that it had a ice room that was built a certain way so that ground water ran into it and helped keep the ice frozen. Also it was the first concrete house in south carolina supposedly i read, which is interesting if youre an architect i guess.

Sorry i tend to be kinda long winded too but anyway there you go.

Yeah i wish ours would take a few days off, i think all governments kinda ruin their countries honestly. Not that im an anarchist but lets face it most politicians are greedy and self serving.

- Free universities, schools, kindergartens etc.
- Good public transport
- The most heavily forested country in Europe
- Thousands of lakes
- Fresh air to breath
- The nature overall, lol ^_^

A horrific past orbiting around a single individual that will never be forgotten and will burden the collective consciousness of future generations for ages to come...that's the most famous thing at least. No use denying that.

Sigh...and it provides a wonderful standard of proportionality for internet arguments, I guess.

Theres always bad people, but im sure theres some good things there as well, as for the internet arguments, if people dont have a reason they usually make one up anyway heh. Human nature i guess.

I was going to say "Me, DUH!". But Alma beat me to it. Although I do leave a little trail of special everywhere I go .

Where I live is known for producing movies and TV shows. Los Angeles, betch!

Oh, and cultural diversity!

I went to school with Batman.

Well, I went to the same school as Christian Bale quite a few years after he left and I never met him or his family, but I don't tell people that part :D

They've filmed a few movies - or at least some scenes - in and around my hometown. Some parts of Robin Hood Prince of Thieves and one of the Harry Potters. They actually built this weird crooked house on the beach for the Harry Potter film. No idea which one it was as I have only seen the first one and it was one of the later ones.

Oh and some obscure Hungarian pop singer filmed one of their videos in the high street, which was hilarious to witness.

Apart from that, it's pretty mundane.

Where I currently live though, they filmed some King's Landing and the season one Dothraki scenes of Game of Thrones but then the local government got in a spaz with the production company and they moved filming to Croatia or somewhere :(

Heres that harry potter house you were talking about, its from deathly hallows.

Damn batman AND harry potter, youre some kinda super hero by association or at least a 3rd level wizard lol. I think the one im most jealous of though is game of thrones, thats one of my favorite series ever.

The village I live in is over 3000 years old. In ancient times, it used to be the capital of my country, until it was destroyed by an earthquake. The modern-day village was built on the ruins of the old one, so if you dig deep enough there's always a chance of finding a relic of the past. I once found a piece from an ancient vase in my backyard.

Where I live now, Salt Potatoes; where I'm from originally, the mill town used to be a well-known spa in the 1800s. People would go there to take the healing mineral waters. The water that ran in the drinking fountains in my elementary school near the mineral springs always tasted like pennies.

Rivers, the biggest one Padma, my home country is full of rivers.

About where I live is the Oktoberfest.
