Hi all!
I live in Ukraine, this is east Europe.
For log time I attempt to understand, why the salary in other country so different.
The firm where I work, has office in Switzerland and Romania and specialists with similar skills with me will get salary several times more than my.

I don't understand, why do salary depend by geographic location? It's not rightly!

You can work for Romanian lei then. Now, why you ask the exchange rate is on Switzerland's advantage? Because they have a better country, they are more productive and make better and more efficient products, and their country is well set-up so the rich people in Romania (corrupt politicians) all want to buy villas in Switzerland. It's cool. Can't say that many Swiss people appreciate stray dogs, gypsies who roll in trash, dust in the streets, droves of cars parked on the sidewalks, etc etc.

It's simple, don't use Western products and their currency and wages will fall. But they are superior and YOU WANT THEM, don't you?

It might be due to currency or maybe they get more work over there. Maybe it's also to do with tax or something. Have you Googled your question? It might help, lol.

The thing is the currency is exactly DUE to being more productive.

Back during communism, Bulgarian lev/USD exchange was fixed by the Bulgarian government. There was no free trade of currency. It turned out that everyone wanted to buy dollars and the government started rejecting currency exchange, leaving a black market of much more realistic rates.

The cost of living is higher in some countries than it is in others so people in those countries need more money to live on.
