I think it would be better to have an age restriction, since there aren't that many young teenagers on here.
Or to maybe have age-restricted zones, where there is no cursing - like a teenage zone, and mature zone.
And a lot of the content, just people's real life issues that they deal with, aren't very kid-friendly by nature.
This is after all, "A Lonely Life" forums, not "My Life is Wonderful, Everything is Fine" forums.
People are usually here because they are dealing with some kind of unhappiness, sometimes very deep unhappiness. And in the course of that they might curse to express strong emotion. Given the serious nature of some of the things people deal with here, it feels like not just censoring words but censoring emotions.
And like others said, users have been bashed in other ways too, besides just swearing. This has been a long-time issue on here that's never really made any sense. Ever so often, you'll get someone who knowingly and intentionally, and obviously, tactically antagonizes other members. Eventually their target has enough and curses the antagonist out, only for the target person to be seen as the problem because they cursed, and not the tactical antagonist, who was obviously harassing the person - even after the target tries politely but clearly telling the antagonist to leave them alone, and even after the antagonist gets an official warning. This, I think, is the much greater threat to creating an inclusive environment, than a few bad words that, let's be honest, are everywhere these days whether we like it or not. Thankfully this tactical antagonism isn't common, but I've seen people quit the forum over it several times. I almost did after one particular instance, myself.
Overall it just kind of has the feeling of,
"big corporation buys small business,
makes changes that users don't want because big corp. doesn't understand the culture".
Anyway, while I understand that ultimately it's going to be whatever it's going to be, this is just my feedback.
