It's even more amazing to know where that picture came from, the Hubble telescope was pointed to a small region of space thought to be empty space, it stayed focused on the same region for around 5 days to capture as much light as possible, and out popped this amazing picture - from ONE small region of space. There's a video I posted on here a while back about it.

Do they build telescopes like that on mountains to get better pictures?

Kinda, they do this so they're above the clouds and adverse weather conditions, but they still have the problem of our atmosphere. The Hubble telescope is actually above that orbiting the earth, so that has the clearest of views.

thats pretty impressive, but i guess they still need stronger telescopes as the universe IS TOO VAST :p

Well that picture above is pretty much the furthest we can see, you're looking at around 13 billion years ago right there. Anything past this we can't see since particles were in a higher state of energy, but even this picture was taken with a combination of light frequencies, ultra violet, infrared, etc..

13 billions years..... wow

Give or take, I think the universe is 13.7 billion years old, but it took millions of years for atoms to chill out and start to form molecules and other stuff, then maybe a few hundred million years for stars and galaxies to happen too.

But tell me a bit about the big bang.
It's an explosion that engendered a magnetic universe?

Well it created the four knows forces of nature so I suppose!
