    Looking for online friends

Being a 30 year old from California myself, I nearly responded as well... but this thread was originally made in 2013.

    I'm here now

I don't believe I mentioned a gender in my post, unless you're referring to my automatic signature. :P

    I'm here now

Welcome to ALonelyLife, Darcey. I won't claim that it gets easier or better with time, but I will comment that it CAN get easier and better. Situations change, as will your outlook on them.

Am I too ugly for a girl to like me?

To be fair, you've already answered that you're not too ugly to get a girl... but you're managing to turn off the girls with the physicals qualities that you would prefer. Maybe it's that you're 5'5, as one poster quipped (although I'm 5'7 and I've pulled taller girls by having a bigger outward...

    An encouragement for new members

Hey, welcome to A Lonely Life. I ran into a similar situation not long ago, although I've spent most of my life moving around from place-to-place, so I kind of subconsciously expected to lose any friends that I had at the time.

I'm 22 and can't even get a 16 year old girl to date me. I feel so pathetic.

I'm not really sure where OP lives, but if he is in the United States, it will vary by state. In my current state of California, the AOC is 18, but I have lived in states where the AOC is 16, so who knows?

    New user-Introduction

Oh, god, I hope your brother is right. Then all I need is Jon, Tormund, and Bronn to survive the show and I should be okay.

    New user-Introduction

I could have written most of this post myself. I wouldn't consider you a loser based on the information given here, but that's just me. My own dog is probably the only reason I got through a few of my darker times in recent years, when I was living alone with a shrinking world around me. ...I...

Going to be gone for a while...

My god, Richard, I just read through this thread... it sounds like you're letting your higher intellect keep you from doing what I know the darker parts of your soul want you to do. I don't know how well I could handle such a situation, but I'd like to think that I would handle it with the...

I just want affection... so bad

I would be using that app, if it existed, but I would be afraid that it would be a prostitute that was using cuddle as a euphemism and that I would get beat up by her pimp like Holden Caulfield.

I have been alone for 10 years. Effects.

I feel like I've forgotten how normal people date and exist in early relationships. I was with one person for over half a decade, and while I have had minor flings since then, I really haven't relearned how to just ask somebody out to socialize and get to know them. Compounding the issue is that...

    Greetings

Definitely don't feel cringy or awkward about posting here, none of us really know what to say for our first post... I sure as heck didn't, so I overcompensated by writing a lot of stuff. I am from a small country called Tunisia in north Africa (I always hated this part when i talk about my...

    Hello

Hey, welcome to the site. It may not be for everyone, but you could check out the Discord chat that many of the ALL members are in. I think Richard was thinking of The Sultan's assistant from Aladdin? What's wrong with winos and derelicts? ;)

Being alone made worse by my cousin

My best advise is to assume that any overt or indirect social cues you may be receiving are in your own head. When we want something, we tend to see it everywhere we go. Having a young member of the opposite sex living in such close proximity is bound to bring up old feelings that you miss...

Fear of abandonment, a self-fulfilling prophecy?

First of all, thank for posting this; it isn't easy opening yourself up, even anonymously. I moved around so much in my childhood, teenage, and even early adult life where I am now. Before I go any further, I relate to this sentence more than I can easily explain to you. I could write a novel...

I'm 22 and can't even get a 16 year old girl to date me. I feel so pathetic.

To some extent, you have to consider the 'self' that you're proposing to a person that you're asking out to be a product that you're attempting to sell. A lot of people on this forum probably don't have the highest opinion of their own value, and that shoots them in the foot while they attempt...

    Dear The Lonely

This is a beautiful thread; Wallflower, Meaw, thank you.

    You know your lonely when

When you find something funny or interesting that you would normally show that special someone, and you realize that you haven't talked to them in years and won't be talking to them in the future.

New Place, No new people to show it too

I lived in a studio apartment in the middle of nowhere for a while; I didn't have cable hooked up because I was broke, so I started running through my DVD collection, playing whatever I could to give myself a little bit of comforting noise. Eventually, I got to the point that I found "The...
