Well I blew that one. No surprise.
He calls up and tells me that I have won the Readers Digest / Publishers Clearing House / this or that Sweepstakes. He seemed unclear on what I won, just that I did win.
For some reason he asks me If I remember entering the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes. I tell him 'no' so he asks if I remember entering the Readers Digest Sweepstakes.
Does he think that everyone enters at least one of these things? Come on guy, set your hook and continue on.
I tell him "I didn't know that was still being publisher".
He responds with "So you don't want the prize?"
This doesn't seem to be going the way I imagine it should. Shouldn't he be doing more to reel me in?
I give up so I tell him "No."
He hangs up without a word.
Then I realize that I blew it. Just the previous week a friend was left a message on her answering machine informing her that she had won the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes and had won 5.5 million dollars and a 2024 Mercedes.
She just needed to call them back.
As I said, I blew it. I wanted to know if I had done better than 5.5 million and a Mercedes of if I had just won some piddly 2 million dollars. I don't care about collecting the prize, I just wonder what I had won.
