Around the early 2000’s, I did away with cable and TV - got rid of it completely and just read books and did other hobbies. I distinctly remember getting cable TV again a few years later and how shocked I was by the mainstream content, complete with swearing, nudity and everything. Things changed quickly.

It's been like this for years. I think it should go back to the old way, because there's a lot of unsupervised children and those who don't need to come across such content. We live in an entirely different world these days. Sad.
